Hello there. After a tiring day at school, two tests, and homeworks that seems to last forever (One is incomplete, due on Thursday), I've decided to retire to the computer and search around it.
However, I remember something. At lunch, my friend (Who is a huge fan, maybe even more so then the Wii) were discussing Nintendo related thing and his plans to make Nintendo-type games in college. However, what sparked my interest was that while he has not played Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts And Bolts, he does know a few things that I want to share with you.
First off, he knows that there are Nintendo-related elements in this game, very strange when you think about it, especially since Rare is owned by Microsoft. Now to the point.
Here is some quotes from the game Kazooie said, "Failures? We've been in several games already!"
Log (Lord of Games) said "Oh, ho. But nowhere near as that Italian gentleman, correct?"
In case you don't notice immediately, Kazooie is refering to the previous games he's been in. Lord of Games in his quote is refering to the famous Italian plumber Mario, which is Nintendo's flagship franchise!
More references includes the famous ? block in the Jiggoseum.
On top of that, in a interview, Rare said that despite being owned by Microsoft, they are still friends with Nintendo.
Guys, take this blog serious. This isn't some person rambling out the facts, this could mean something. Maybe Rare doesn't hate Nintendo. Maybe they were friends all this time.
But that's not even the point. The point is that from reading this post, Rare did have a good reason why they hinted a possibility of Virtual Console games coming from there backlog of SNES and N64 titles. What I'm saying is that we should not give up hope for Rare games coming to the Virtual Console. If we're really luck, we may even see Rare making games for Nintendo consoles again, even if just a third-party company.
I have hopes that someday, we can see a non-Donkey Kong Rare game on the Virtual Console. Just a few evidences bumps this from "nearly impossible" to "a slight chance". Don't give up hope for Rare games coming up for the Virtual Console. Prehaps if we do, we'll see them.

ReplyDeleteI fail to see how this means they'll release Banjo or Conker on VC.
It was just a pop culture reference. Kinda like how lots of games/TV shows rip off the matrix.
Plus Banjo came out a year ago and nothing has come of it...
@Chris: It isn't guarantee that any Rare games will come to the Virtual Console, but this is proof that it is slight possible. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it is a small probability of seeing a VC release.
ReplyDeleteLicensed games are more unlikely then Rare games, at least Rare was previously Nintendo 2nd-party company until seven years ago.
Rare and Nintendo never had issues with each other, Microsoft purchased them as a second party developer and that was that. They wouldn't have released Viva Pinata on the DS if that wasn't the case. Rare are just restricted contractually on Nintendo 'consoles', but it never said anything about 'handhelds', hence it appearing on the DS. Will we see Banjo return to Nintendo in the form of a 3DS title? Probably not, but it isn't impossible.
